Synthesis and Characterization of Epoxy Resins-Modified Waterborne Polyurethane Emulsion

Aqueous polyurethane emulsion was prepared with diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), polybutylene adipate diol (PBA-1000) as main raw materials and 2, 2-dihydroxymethyl propionic acid (DMPA) hydrophilic chain extender. On this basis, epoxy resin E-44 introduced to modify the prepolymer, modified waterborne obtained. In order obtain better performance polyurethane, effect of DMPA content、the amount added modification method on properties discussed. The results show that when content is 4wt%, overall film best. And addition significantly improves water resistance, solvent resistance tensile strength film, its hardness thermal stability are also improved a certain extent. When 8wt%, storage decreases significantly, suitable 6wt%. obtained by chemical than physical modification.
